Laid back dark and somewhat depressing watering hole in Kips Bay serving bar food and bbq. OK but nothing to write home about…best thing about it is its proximity to the movie theatre.

Sippy Cup Rating:
(2.5 / 5)
I don’t have that much to say about the Waterfront Ale House other than it’s decent and served the purpose of getting a quick bite before Sunny went into major meltdown territory. After seeing Alvin and The Chipmunks Sunny and I walked down the street and decided to give this old local haunt a try….as did a few other families leaving the theatre. The service was pretty good although our waitress seemed irritated with life in general. That said I did appreciate her bringing out Sunny’s chicken fingers right away (I ordered a burger which took much longer). She also gave Sunny her juice in a styrofoam cup with a lid and straw because no one needs a spill! There is a lot of room to maneuver a stroller or double stroller to the back of the restaurant which features tables and a couple booths. The front has only hightops.
Bonus Points:
- Down the street from Kips Bay movie theatre, it’s a convenient restaurant within walking distance
Insider Tips:
- The chicken fingers have an odd tempura-like texture. Sunny liked them but I could see pickier “chicken-finger purists” saying “no-way jose”
One More Thing….
Now that Sunny is 3 we’ve started seeing movies together again which is fun, even if they are at 10:30am! We used to go when she was only 2 months old to the few theatres that offer designated mommy screenings. Basically moms can see a NEW movie, babies in tow. Breastfeeding is not a problem…nor is crying (although most babies end up sleeping). The volume is quieter than a normal theatre and babies were free!
