A small neighborhood Chinese Restaurant in Gramercy. Friendly staff with yummy dumplings but lacking in kid-friendly amenities. Side note – don’t ask for someone named Marco.

Sippy Cup Rating:

This small 2nd Avenue space has had a tough go at it. In the last year we’ve seen it change hands a number of times. Most recently it was inhabited by Marco’s Wine Bar & Tapas which, after a few false starts and reopenings, ultimately closed. They did have a lovely sign though which the industrious new owners decided to keep and with that Marco’s – A Taste of China was born!
Sunny and I went there a week after it opened and shared two orders of dumplings which were delectable. Unfortunately the bones of the place are still the same. It is a small space with lots of tables so maneuvering a stroller in the restaurant is tough. In terms of other kid-friendly amenities the new Marco’s does do slightly better on our Sippy Cup rating than its predecessor in that they offer high chairs and smaller portions upon request but overall we cannot give it our Sippy Cup stamp of approval. Thumbs up to the dumplings though – worth keeping Marco’s on your list for an order-in night.
Bonus Points:
- Cute local playground two blocks away. Augustus St Gaudens located at 19th and 2nd.
