A large and buzzy restaurant popular with families and new graduates who co-exist in the large Peter Cooper and Stuy Town complexes. Petite Abeille offers a large section of beer and a kids menu – it’s our kind of place!
(Note – as of August Petite Abeille no longer offers crayons and a coloring menu, hence we changed their rating from 4.5 to 4 Sippy Cups)

Sippy Cup Rating:

Petite Abeille is one of the first restaurants that Sunny and I ventured to – even before we started Fork+Bib. The lively Belgian restaurant caters to a mix of locals living in Gramercy’s Peter Cooper and Stuy Town complexes which includes families and recent graduates alike. Pre-Sunny, Ryan and I used to go there for the “All You Can Eat Mussels” night and beer night….now we go for the grilled cheese…and the beer. The cheerful restaurant has all of the kid friendly amenities one could desire including lots and lots of stroller parking, a kids menu complete with the traditional food kiddies love (Chicken fingers for Sunny!), crayons at the table and more. The only big thing they are missing is a changing table which is disappointing since there is more than enough room for them to install one in the bathroom. Petite Abeille gets crowded during prime times – weekend brunch and when big sports games are on tv so consider making a reservation.
Bonus Points:
- Right near Peter Cooper and Stuyvesant Town parks with lots of playground options and a farmers market which is up and running again starting May 22 – details here
- Outside seating!
Insider Tips:
- Different specials on each day of the week. On Wednesday’s is “All You Can Eat Mussels” which comes with a beer for $27
- There is a great little gelato bar off to the side of the restaurant in the back. Sunny knows she will get a chocolate scoop at the end of the meal if she behaves “like a lady” 🙂
- Ask for a table in the back – there is more room there for strollers
Fun Fact:
Petite Abeille means “Little Bee” in french. According to the owner, he named the restaurant after a little bee because of her mischievous ways, reminding us that life should be lived with abandon, after-all there is a little child within us all. Fork+Bib agrees!
