With Purim and Easter this week/weekend we’ve been having lots of fun!
Earlier in the week Ryan and I celebrated Purim at Sunny’s school and the kids made some killer Hamentachen. Duff Goldman of Charm City Cakes and the Food Network can show you how to make your own here!
Today we celebrated Easter with Sunny’s friend Chloe and went to the annual NYC Easter and Bonnet Parade in midtown.
Now NO ONE does a parade like New Yorkers. If there is an opportunity to dress up – we’ve got it covered!
It started at 57th and ended at 49th along 5th Ave….not too far to walk for Sunny’s little feet 🙂 Sometimes parades make me a little claustrophobic but this one is tame and great for kids (no rogue drunk revelers!)
The bonnet parade is a tradition that actually started in the 1800’s. After attending services, the ladies of NYC would parade down 5th Ave showing off their hats adorned with fresh Spring flowers. Nowadays even NYC puppies take part!
We were all starving and on the verge of a major sugar crash by the end of the parade and decided to wander over to Greek restaurant Limani which was a big success! Check out the review over here!
