It was a busy day eating day for Sunny and I yesterday. We kicked off the first day of Chinese New Year with Prosperity Salad at Nyona, followed by the local celebration parade. After a quick power nap we met Sunny’s bestie Chloe and her mom for a girl’s night in the East Village starting promptly at 5:30pm (oh has my life every changed!)

Numero 28 has been on my list for a while so we decided to try it out. Their East Village location (they have a few other locations) is small but functional with a large wheelchair/stroller-friendly ramp. The tables are close together so dining with a stroller during peak hours is tough however there is a long hallway leading to the bathroom which can accommodate at least 6-8 folded strollers.

Right when we entered we saw a 3 year old getting her groove on to the top 40 restaurant playlist and we knew we were in the right place!

The four of us decided to share a medium pizza (half pepperoni and half cheese) and two pastas. There was MORE than enough food. If you are going for the pasta Sunny and I highly recommend the bolognese sauce which the chef is known for.

Of course no Fork & Bib review would be complete without a jaunt to the bathroom (thanks for reminding me Kathy!). The single, unisex bathroom was large and clean. Although there was no changing table (c’mon Numero 28!) there was a very small table that could be used for one small bum bum. Not ideal but doable in an emergency.

Have you been to another one of the Numero 28 locations? We’d love to know what you think! Email us at forkandbibreviews@gmail.com

Bonus Points:

  • Very friendly staff who aim to please. They are happy to give you a half portion of pasta – just ask! Also very accommodating with pizza toppings. It was no biggie to make half pepperoni and half cheese.
  • Outdoor seating in nice weather

Insider Tips:

  • The pizza sizes are large. To put it in relative terms, the medium pie is longer than Sunny was when she was born. The four of us shared one and had leftover. The pepperoni is unusually spicy – you’ve been warned.
