Oh New York…so many restaurants and so little time! Sunny and I rarely go to a restaurant more than once or twice, even if we love it, but the burger and milkshake haven Black Tap has broken that pattern.

While we obviously came for the milkshakes (which, word has it, are the most instagrammed of their kind in the world), we were set on having a full meal and reviewing for Fork + Bib. The majority of the menu is made up of burgers or burger salads. Unfortunately Sunny is one of the only 4 year old in the world who can’t stand burgers. And here we go!

Of course she had her mind set on chicken fingers , which they didn’t have. Not to be thrown for a loop by a toddler, our lovely waitress offered to prepare “special chicken fingers” for Sunny. A few minutes later a plate arrived with the insides of their famous Korean chicken sandwich sliced into perfect strips. To top it off she brought a side order of sliced cucumbers which are Sunny’s vegetable of choice (Note,  they don’t officially have these on the menu. Our rockstar waitress took them from the garnish section of the bar – not sure if this will be an option every time but we hope so)! I had the All-American Burger which was worth every stinkin’ calorie.

There is no table activity at Black Tap, however Sunny and her friends spent the entire time fixated on the milkshake bar the elegance in which the decadent drinks are made. It takes skill to balance a gigantic piece of birthday cake onto a full milkshake! Note for next time – ONE milkshake is more than enough for two or three people.

Sippy Cup Rating:

4.0 Stars (4.0 / 5)

Insider Tips:

  • Go early on the weekends – this place is popular!
