Sippy Cup Rating:

5 Napkin Burger caters to kids in every way while still serving up a very sophisticated selection of cuisine (from gourmet burgers to sushi!) acceptable to any foodie’s palate.
From the moment you and your little ones sit down Fork & Bib is on it. Our waitress immediately asked if Sunny needed a booster seat or highchair, gave her some crayons and a kids coloring sheet/menu to keep her occupied, and brought her water in a spill proof cup, complete with a bendy straw. They have a solid kids menu with all the “greatest hits” – grilled cheese, spaghetti, waffles, hot dog and more. Of course, Sunny immediately gravitated to her go-to fave, the chicken noodle matzo ball soup (regular menu) that she gives 2 thumbs up.
The restaurant is big and very spacious so there is tons of room for strollers (even double ones!). With lots of different table options (booths, regular tables, in-door, outdoor) this is a terrific place to bring the stroller brigade and dine with your other parent friends and kiddies.
Outside of the Original 5 Napkin Burger (which is worth every stinkin’ calorie) I recommend the Artichoke Benedict, which combines creamy artichoke and spinach dip with poached eggs, hollandaise sauce and a hot potato roll topped with bubbling cheese. I have yet to try the sushi because I’d rather go to Hane in the area, however I do hear it’s quite good.
We were so close to giving 5 Napkin Burger a perfect sippy cup rating however, unfortunately solo-daddy-diners are out of luck because the Men’s bathroom is without a changing table. Nevertheless this is a fantastic restaurant for kids and parents alike…. definitely sippy cup approved!
Bonus points:
- 5 Napkin Burger is a few blocks from Union Square, which has a lot of kid-friendly stores like Babies R Us and Barnes & Noble (this one has a great children’s section) and SEPHORA (Mommy’s need fun too right?!).
- Union Square also has a small but cute playground called Evelyn’s Playground and a fun farmers market.
Insider Tip:
- The bespoke burgers take a little time to prepare so if you might want to order food for your kids immediately so that they can munch while you are waiting.
